Leadership utilizes an array of assessment tools to measure aspects of how individuals
interact and learn, personality traits, and leadership and management skills. These tools allow a better understanding of the individuals
who make up an organization and serve to improve the ability of leadersand managers in
that organization to work together.
One of the most effective assessment tools is 360°
Feedback, which gathers data from an individual, from peers, from supervisors and from
subordinates, to gauge how well someone functions in his or her environment.
 | Learn how others perceive their leadership strengths
and styles; |
 | Gain an understanding of how they compare with other
managers in the specified universe; and, |
 | Begin to focus on the skills and perspectives
measured -- those that are critical to managing and working in the
organization in order to develop individual plans for improvement.
|
The CHL utilizes a 360° assessment survey which
can be customized to fit the needs of particular organizations, taking into account some
of what makes each unique -- its culture and business. The 360° survey:
1.Defines corporate
competencies;
2.Increases the focus on customer service;
3.Supports team initiatives;
4.Creates a high-involvement workforce;
5.Decreases hierarchies, promotes streamlining;
6.Detects barriers to success;
7.Assesses developmental needs;
8.Avoids discrimination and bias;
9.Identifies performance thresholds;
10.Is easy to implement.
Utilized in conjunction with other programs such as
strategic planning, cultural diagnosis and executive education, the assessments can help
an organization more successfully navigate the changes that all businesses go through as
they continue to develop and change. |
