Gary Lieberman
graduated with J.D. and M.B.A. degrees from Emory University and holds an undergraduate
degree from Duke University. In addition to his role as an Adjunct Instructor at the Emory
University School of Medicine and at the Goizueta Business School, he is Associate
Director of the Emory University School of Medicine Center for Healthcare Leadership. He
specializes in organizational transformation, managing the merger and acquisition process
and leadership development.
His clients have included IBM, Coca-Cola,
Merck & Co., Disney University, Vitalink, Medical College of Georgia, The Emory
Clinic, Emory Hospitals, the Emory University System of Health Care, AID Atlanta, and CARE
USA. Formerly, in his role with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, he
prepared legal briefs in disability cases on behalf of the Secretary of Health and Human
Services. He also worked for several years as a member of a two person team that managed a
the marketing and management of a portfolio of financial services product accounts owned
by Citicorp CHOICE, now part of Citigroup.
In addition, he has recently edited and
contributed to the Jossey-Bass book, The 21st Century Healthcare Leader,
and has written a chapter in Stephen Goldman and Carol Graham's recent The Agile
Healthcare Leader on dealing with mergers and acquisitions; he also has co-authored
the Foreword to The Human Cost of a Management Failure: Organizational Downsizing at
General Hospital by Allcorn, Baum, Diamond and Stein.
